Letters
After doing a search for any correspondence that may have some key words from vestiges, I found an amazingly insightful letter. Written by a James Grant in March of 1878, the letter is an appeal for more understanding. Grant is studying theology, but is very interested in Darwin’s Descent of Man and Tyndall’s Fragments of Science and is struggling to reconcile the world of science with the world of faith. He has been told that evolution would deny the existence of God, but he is skeptical and wants more information (almost pleading). This is an interesting letter as it is still so applicable today. So often do we still question the theory today in society.
