When first discovered you were a mystery,
Now we learn about you in history,
You’re well known as the fruity fly,
With red-brick eyes,
You make for interesting research,
You contain a double helix,
As well as quick reproduction cycle,
​Such a quick life for you,
Hope you do everything you want to do,
Scientists have had their way,
Allowing you not to say,
I wouldn’t blame you not to stay,
Thank you for allowing research,
Because of you we’ve found a cure
